It’s Never Been Easier to Stay Connected…

Our extended family looks like many others across the nation in the twenty-first century.  Our little boy has Grandparents in Florida, Aunts and Uncles spread across the Southeast, and we live in Georgia.  With gas and plane tickets on the rise, finances keep us all from getting together face-to-face as much as we would like.  In addition, schedules from each of our different households tend to conflict more than they coincide.

For the last year, Skype has been a great resource in staying connected so our son can get to know family members that are out of our area.  Even so, we have not been able to talk with multiple family members at the same time without paying a fee.  Until now...  Just a few short months ago, Google+ launched out into the crowded field of Social Media options.  Admittedly, it has nothing close to the following that Twitter and Facebook boast (at least not yet).  However, there is one option that Google+ offers that brings families together better than any of the other free services out there.

They call it “Hangouts”.  It allows you to start a video chat with multiple people in multiple places at the same time.  So, if we want to chat with Caleb’s grandparents in Sarasota, FL and his Aunt and Uncle in Winston-Salem, NC we can.  Best news of all… it is totally free.

It has never been easier to stay connected to those that you love and allow them to watch as children grow up.  It may not be as good as the real thing, but it sure beats three way calling.  Sign up for Google+ today and enjoy making memories in the digital age.

Disclaimer:  Currently Google+ is in an invitation-only stage.  If you would  like an invitation, please list your email below in the comments section, and we’ll be happy to send you one!
